? for the Case guys October 31, 2013 03:22AM
Reaching out to the Case guys here. Looking @ building a LLS. Was thinking of using 970 rear but I am getting some information saying that a 400 rear would basically be the same thing and I see some Case parts on the for sale page. So, what is the difference between a 1030, 970 and 400 rear and trans combinations? Is there any gear ratio interchange? Parts bigger or better? Thanks in advance.

The case running llss in ky has a 730 rear in it, they seem to be the litest and strongest option, what motor are you planning in putting in it? Those case blocks are heavy!!

Basically a 400 730,830,930,1030,770,870,970,1070 rears are the same size and dimension! Two differences is the axle sizes nd clutch sizes if u go with a 400 u prolly should get a 970 or 1070 bell housing to go to the bigger clutch!

So are we talking about trans ratios exchanging and ring and pinion and bull gears etc; As well as axles and the such?

I have two 400 Cases here in Nebraska. One runs, the other would make a good donor. Both would be for sale. 308-940-0255. Thanks Jeff

What weight can a 970 be taken down to? Class is 410 cubes, 2.6 charger, 6500lbs. Does the 401 get used much? Seems like most case pullers you see are using the 504.
