JD 6030 tractor weight December 03, 2013 11:44AM
Anyone out there care to share just how light you can get one to be? I know certain publishings show it ranges anywhere from 14k to 20k in farm trim. Just curious if the stock frame ,rear housing, trans , and hood where to be kept, how light can one be made using a 619 in it?

10000 fairly easily. you will need to loose the factory front axle and big cast piece under the fuel tank

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 03, 2013 12:47PM
What would one get down too if it had the wheatland front axlw?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 03, 2013 01:26PM
Do you need a wheatland front axle?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 04, 2013 11:18AM
Is 9500 out of the question? If we really started going to aluminum parts and put some work into the axles and frame?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 04, 2013 02:07PM
we have a super farm that weighs 8700 with no weight on it . has aluminum frame and rear end has been lightened

I have been looking around for a wheatland front axle or possible lighter front axle.

10K are you sh%*ng me/!? I assume you have already removed the hydro's and pto? no wonder there getting people nervous around here! Thank god Im a John Deere puller. A 6030 is a pissed off bull out in the field in stock trim, let alone putting fuel to it and getting around 10k that's awesome. thanks for the info

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 03, 2013 01:25PM
10000 with no pto no radiator no hyd. no rockshaft top, with combine front axle. With the factory wheatland front axle you might get down to 11000

Wheatland?? You mean standard right? What the hell is a wheatland 6030?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 05, 2013 12:28AM

tn6030.
Could a 5020 be used as a replacement if a 6030 couldn't be had. What would be the advantages/ disadvantages?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 08, 2013 10:32AM
Yes, they are geared a little slower but you never have the perfect ratio with any of them. They are non turbo engines, small inj pump. some 6030's are needle bearinged
already. I would say most of them are 20's with 30 decals anyway.

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 08, 2013 12:42PM
Is there any special mods for the 619 to fit properly? Rules might change up here in the northeast allowing the 619 in hot farm. Is it safe to say that a 619 in a 5020 can make 11,500 and still have movable weight?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 08, 2013 01:32PM
yes 619 bolts right up .11500 will be easy

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 09, 2013 09:35AM
You stated that a 6030 has a faster geared trans than the 5020, Do you know how much of a "real world" difference, ratio's are French to me. Can tire size be looked at for help?

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight December 08, 2013 12:02PM
Yes, most are built out of a 5020 . a little less weight and slightly slower are the main diff .

i have a pair of lightened axle housings that are needled and ready to bolt on 712-540-5137

Re: JD 6030 tractor weight vs 4630 December 13, 2013 07:46AM
I undersand that the 6030/5020's except the 619 and pull real well once dialed in. Is there a reason no one is running 4630's or 4840's? I know that they except and have the 466. Is it a weight issue or are the smaller 4430-4455 just the better way to go. Im only asking because 4630 are coming for sale cheap versus a 4430. I do realize that they are quite a bit heavier in the rearend?
