466 in a 686? March 23, 2014 05:27AM
I've heard of people putting a 466 in a 666 or 686, and claiming it to be an easy swap that looks factory when done. But according to my measurements the 466 is almost 4 inches longer than the stock 312. How do they make it fit? Do they extend the frame rails and hoods?

Yes the rails have to be stretched an hood also. It's not all that bad , just need some donor parts to work with.

So if I were to splice in a 4" chunk of frame, it would work? Or do I need to be more precise on the measurements to keep things lined up? How many other things won't quite line up? Electrical shouldn't be an issue, but I'm thinking the steering lines would need to be lengthened as well.
