IH heads March 30, 2014 01:07PM
Need some help on a hot farm 466.Have been told the 833 casting head is a good choice but it is a low flow ,high swirl head. Was also told the 426 casting head is a better choice, but i was not told why.Was also told not to remove any material from ports, would like to know why.Would also like some feedback on camshaft choice.Thanks.

It depends on who you talk to as far as which head is better. I have been told that the 833 is best, that the 426 is best, and that there isn't enough difference between them to worry about. For a hot farm, I'd say the last option is probably most true. Regarding porting, these heads are very good as cast, and, aside from slight deburring/polishing, it's real easy to do more harm than good if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

Its gonna greatly depend on your rpm and turbo rules. What is your turbo limit?

2.3" turbo box 3lm-466, 3000 rpm.

We have a pair of 833 plus heads and have mildly ported the one we are planning on using.
