4010 axles in a 4430 June 03, 2014 12:48AM
We are putting some 4010 final drives on our 4430. Is there anything special that needs to be done other than machining out the rear end housing to make room for the ring gear? Do we need to machine the brakes down? Is there anything that is wider that will cause them to drag? Thanks

You got to grind out the area where the diff lock line goes since the 4010 did not have diff lock. The 4010 finals will be much harder to turn and if you are running stock road gear you will probly have trouble breaking the trans since it pulls harder at the final end. Better off to put a 4440 2 speed in it before the trans so it does not load the trans as bad. 4440 is faster than stock 4430.
