Best first response here is what is your goal for the M...just slightly hotter than stock or do you want 200+ hp at 20% over stock rpm?

The head is the key to power on those engines. You can get 50% more than stock by changing nothing except head work.

Need more info.what are you trying to pull? Antique with factory rpm? Years ago we put a 450 lp head on with 806 carb on methanol for fuel .took out sleeves. Wow far do you want to go?

we pulled the sleves out and used MM U pistons a venturi out of a W9 450 lp head tractor looked stock but ran much better. also electronic ignition

bored block put hi dome 41/4 pistons (preferably high altitude 5000 ft & above took 400 gas head milled .125 of it put dt 466 valves double springs cleaned ports up . lp manifold milled to square up match head and manifold ports used copper gaskets 806 carb open jets up in-large venture little. get a rocket governor . electronic ignition at least 105 oct gas time govinore with carb . put larger fuel line from bottom tank to carb electric fuel pump power time on good dyno made 95-100 hp . something you can do biggest part your self for not a lot of money. if you run on to a mw stroker crank ( 51/2 stroke ).
or watch for sale adds lot a times by complete motor for less than build one now
