TA pressures January 14, 2015 10:46AM
I put a Hy Cap TA in my tractor and the factory pressures are 230-250psi. My tractor is running 230-232psi, this is when i am holding the steering all the way to the left and fully applying the brakes. when i am not holding the steering and the brakes, the pressures are 205psi (what should idle pressures be?). my lube pressure is 21psi which is good. My question is, how do i get my pressures up to that 250psi range or should i go higher? i had talked to a guy on the phone and he said that there is a plug to take out and pull the double springs out and insert small copper washers behind the springs, but i dont know where that plug is at, and i dont want to run it too much and cause unnecessary damage.
Pictures would be best to help me see where it is.
Thanks for the space and your time
Mike

Large plug at the top rear of the MCV, right above the dump valve.

Put 1566 springs in it.its the priority regulator valve.

Re: TA pressures January 15, 2015 04:25AM
I put two washers behind the spring in the priority valve. it bumped my pressures up to 220-225psi at 1500RPM with out applying the brakes or steering. when i apply the brakes and steering it then climbs to 240-245psi at 1500RPM. should i be worried about the pressures? i test drove it after i added the shims and checked the pressures and the TA locks in good. But i noticed that when the TA is in Direct drive and i let off the clutch, it seems like its a dual stage clutch, i read that is not good. What is happening there? I know im asking a lot of questions, but this is my first TA and im a Tech student and trying to find out what workd best.
Thanks for the Info,
Mike

Your dump valve is adjusted to tight. Loosen the adjustment some

This. The tell light should go out before the clutch engages.

I am not a genius at setting TA's up but your tell light has to work.

If you use a pressure regulating inner spring from a 1566/1586 (59752c1) it will raise the pressure without shimming.

I run 500 lbs usually. sometimes it drops to 450, depends how hot the oil is.
