2.5 diesel hp?? March 04, 2015 05:20PM
So in all honesty what kinda ponies are the top running ohio 2.5 trucks making? I'm going to have one out this year and I want to know where I'm at. Also who builds the best 2.5 charger? Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 04, 2015 11:54PM
I would say close to, if not over 1000

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 05, 2015 04:55AM
I would agree with that number, Stainless Diesel has a very nice 2.5 setup that is drawing a lot of attention.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 05, 2015 11:49PM
Color Man, I agree !!!!!

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 05, 2015 08:06AM
I know the ky 2.5s are 950-1100 all day long and there the one if not the best 2.5s out there so I would say the oh 2.5s around 700-900 an indy diesel injection has some of the best 2.5 chargers out there

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 05, 2015 04:47PM
Boy, 1000 HP plus with a true 2.5 inch inlet turbo on ANY diesel engine running legal (without nitros or some other augmentation) seems a bit high. Are these real dyno numbers or make believe?? Next you will tell me the billet "Bat Mo Wheel" on an S400 is a big deal. We have tested them - not so much on our engine. Every engine is different I suppose.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 05:24AM
A respectable 2.6 in our area is 1300 on a properly setup dyno, so why isn't 1000 possible on a 2.5? How true is any charger being built for a pulling application? Everything is clipped, machined, massaged to make more with what appears to be less. I've seen the Stainless 2.5 setup in person last I checked it is very different than an s400 with a "bat mo wheel" in it.

So in other words I'm gonna get waxed with 800hp in central Ohio.. Sad

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 08:08AM
Well, lets put your theory to the test:

You have stated that you agree that a 2.5 inch inlet will produce 1100 HP. Then you say a "respectable" 2.6 inlet engine will run 1300 HP. That is a 200 HP increase every time the inducer increases .100 " in diameter. Again in theory for every time it gets .100" bigger it should increase more than 200 HP as the area of the .100" increases as the circle gets bigger. For the sake of this discussion, lets just say you gain 200 HP for every .100". If that is in fact true, then every "respectable" PPL super farm tractor should be running 2100 HP with a 3 inch inlet that has been clipped, massaged and whatever else.

Any of you super farm guys have that?

My guess is your "properly set up dyno" is owned by the same guy that sells the super dooper turbo. I would have to see it with my own eyes to believe it on a dyno of my choice.

To answer the original question I would guess 750 - 850 HP with a 2.5 inlet. I may be wrong for all I know but I may be right...

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 08:13AM
I also have a super farm running the grand national circuit. Gotta agree with you on that color man.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 08:37AM
A superfarm is a true 3x3. These 2.6s making 1300 hp have an hx82 with a 2.6 ring welded in front of them. Know the facts before you full pull on the internet...

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 09:47AM
I said 1000 was possible, and I still stand behind that. If you want to call it 1100 that's fine. My point in theory is look at the truck classes top to bottom. Work stock 650-700, 2.5 still seems to be the debate, 3.0 1700-1800, super stocks are 2300 and up. The these turbos are exactly that. They tech 2.5 but really aren't. Call around to your builder of choice, I bet you can find a 75mm turbo that techs 2.5. Build your truck and enjoy the summer, I've been wrong before.

Well said.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 01:58PM
Guess you haven't seen the new crop of 2.6" turbos that are HX80s and 82s.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 11:58AM
2.5 with enhancement an everything 900-1100 the 2.5 turbos are really not 2.5 to the exact T with all the clipping an enhancing an everything
So a 800hp 2.5 in oh will run with them 800 hp in ky middle to back of the pack with no duals ect
2.6 ppl rules are the biggest cheating 2.6 turbos out there take an hx60 3.0 charger an put a forward maf groove an theres your "2.6" with an intercooler 1200-1300 hp max super farms with intercoolers around 1400-1550 hp With the new 3.0 sf chargers out. Pro stocks are 3000-3300 hp super stocks 3700-4000 hp depends on the new parts ect the 17 mm CDS pump bumped the ss guys up a bunch along with 250-300 psi of boost

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 06, 2015 06:55PM
Thank you for the input cc! I know the ntpa super farms are 1300-1500 ish this year. Seems like everything just keeps picking up more and more every year, it's hard to keep up with Eye Rolling but anyways hopefully I can shake things up this year, even though it's a reg cab Tougue Out

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 07, 2015 02:54AM
Central Ohio 2.5" uses a tapered 3.0" compressor wheel, this will not come close in power to the clipped 3.5-3.6" compressor wheels being run in the 2.6" class.

Ran 2.5 last 3 years dctpa and 1 in cotpc, ran "legit" 2.5 charger and got 575 on wheel dyno. Mid pack last year, 20' to 40' behind leader. Precision was the new lead charger, but that's probably old news already. Good luck! Leaders WERE PUSHING 1000.

Re: 2.5 diesel hp?? March 16, 2015 05:07AM
I have seen a true 2.5 box stock s400 do well in the 900's flywheel hp. I have seen tricked out 2.5 billet wheel clipped chargers over 1100hp. Keep in mind all trucks use intercoolers and other technology of the last twenty years so they make more hp with less turbo than the tractors do and they aren't restricted to a 3" turbine outlet.
