Flip back cages/sfi April 02, 2015 12:56AM
I have seen some pullers with flip back style cages. The cage splits and then folds back, it is pinned together. Is that sfi? What does it take to make a cage sfi? Any input would be great!

The plans for an SFI cage are only available from SFI and I believe they are $75(?) for each category.

Cages become SFI certified by a sanctioning body that has an inspector that I believe has to be SFI certified as well. The tubing thickness is verified by a sonogram and they have templates that verify tubing spacing etc,.

The "pinned" specifications are outlined in the heavier cage document.

You can contact SFI directly and get the documentation.

SFI book doesn't cover "flip back" but it does have specs for Removable upper portion with sleeves. This is from 2004 reviewed SFI book.
