COMPOUND TURBOS June 15, 2016 07:14AM
was wondering if you increase the size of the high pressure turbo on a compound setup say from a 2.5x2.8 to a 3x3 will you increase the horsepower output or will it not change unless you would hange the size of the larger low pressure turbo

thanks

Yes... and no. The bottom turbo or high pressure turbo is essentially the one that your engine runs off of. Going bigger will give your engine more power as long as you can still feed it. boost pressures should be happiest with a 1:3 to 1:4 ratio. i.e.: 30 psi on top stage feeding 90 psi on the bottom stage or 50 psi on top stage feeding 200 psi on the bottom stage. with a 3.0 charger on bottom you might be good in the 3.5-4.1 range intake wheel on your top stage. of course this all depends on housing sizes rpm ranges etc. hope this helps
