corrosion on tractor housing August 05, 2016 03:11AM
Anybody ever have any trouble with corrosion building up on a tractor casting? On one of the antique tractors I have noticed a build up of white crystals at the back of the tractor. It happen on the bull gear cast housing and carries over to the deck plate. Battery is left un-hooked so I can't determine why/ what is creating this issue. So far it's the only one in a barn of 10 to have this problem? It looks like corrosion that you would see on battery terminals but its at the rear of the tractor. The only electronics near by are a kill switch. Could the magnetic field of the kill switch be charging the casting and having an adverse affect with humidity?

Anyone else ever see / hear about this? Remedy? Really stumped on this one...

Thanks,
