4240?
|
A lot of farm stock classes have to be stock appearing and the rotary pump is a problem |

Go 4440 w/A-pump and 466. Once you have that combo your wallet is the only limit. Lots of used pulling pumps for sale on here. I learned the hard way with a 4320. Can't compete anymore with a rotary pump and 404. |

All we have here is a 510 cube limit w/o turbo ... I have a limit on my budget and I'd like to start with the 9500 "stock class" before I threw a turbo, etc. on and went to the "too hot to farm" class.. and wouldn't a 4440 would be issue with weight and taking off the turbo?? I'm not fimiliar w/ rotary pump so appearing stock in guessing it'd be alright? Not sure. I think it's going to be enough trouble getting it to correct weight. Could pump be changed with stock appearance still?? |

4240?

There are .450 heads for the rotary pump but it will never be as good as the m100 or an A pump |

4240 had the DM series pump that pump had 4 pistons instaed of two. it will put out more fuel than a 450 head |

No way will a 4 plunger Roosa out flow a 2 plunger .450 head, if it's built correctly! |

A 4240 block is made to except an inline Bosch a pump.it is a very good starting point for the class you are talking about. With a turbo and an A pump it also makes a good start for a hot farm puller. Its only draw back is the hydraulic clutch, but will work fine for the class you are talking about. |

If the 4240 is an open station it shouldn't be a problem getting to 9500, maybe even with a cab if you removed the glass, 3 point and used pressed steel. . I pulled ours once in 10500 or 11000, with a cab without taking anything off. I pull 8700 9700 farm stock with a 4020 and have always thought a 4240 would work good. |

Awesome thanks! Weight was my main concern. If I move up and out of the stock class, would the Hyd clutch be an issue or would I be able to put a slipper in it without too many issues? |

You can gang your pto clutch to your drive clutch and that will work for a while, you can add a 2speed also.If you go far enough you will need to go with a dry clutch and a three speed tranny. But for now in a stock class you have picked a good starting point with the 4240, turn your clutch pressure up to195-200psi and have fun. |

If you are going to pull 9500 lbs class NA the 4240 is a good option the tractor is that heavy when you look at other option I have seen
4240 s pull 9000 with pressed steel and OE wide front and have a hundred or so to throw (stripped) if you remove the wide front that gives you a lot more moveable weight . |

I'd like to keep it WF if I can. I have a decent set of 38's on a pressed set but our limit is 20.8-38's I'm not sure it the bigger tire would give ya that much more or not. I'd like to put an inline pump in there but someone would pick up on that right away. I think if I had a couple hundred to play with I'd be ok... trial and error I guess |

old non turbo puller
|
I know this thread hasn't been talked on for a while, but I was just wanting to let Bryan B to know that I do have a stock appearing pump for a 4240 that has been internally modified and built by scheid diesel to put out 320cc's of fuel which would be perfect for your non turbo application. I would be willing to sell it at a reasonable price as I do not use it anymore and would like to see it go to a good home. if you are interested please drop me ur email address or phone number and I will happily contact you. thanks |
