What are the common ratios pullers are looking for.

the 20/145 is the late style, easy to get alum house and way more ratios with three case breaks for different ratios weight is a few pounds more

Have recently started building some 20-145 rear ends. The aluminum housings are easier and cheaper than the sqhd ratios are almost infinite from 2.43 all the way to 7.20. They take the same cross as the sqhd so any needle cross made for the sqhd will work in the 145 they are a little heavier and pinion offset is a little more than the sqhd so may limit the width of your frame rails depending on how you build it.

Kind of minor detail, the 20-145 usually needs the ring gear "rub bolt" added.
Also, you can TRY to find a 17-145 axle housing. Slightly thinner cross section of steel. The aluminum 20-145 housing fits in it just fine.
