Oliver 88 Classic Mod November 14, 2017 11:08AM
Hey guys I am looking for advice on what should be done to help strengthen the rear end and transmission of an 88 Oliver to handle the power of a small block V8. I am allowed 360 cubes, any rpm, 18.4 X 38 rear tires, and I will be using a NP 435 transmission in front of the Oliver transmission with a dual disk clutch. Any help is appreciated. Thank, Jon

I've been around pulling and pulled, especially modifieds for over 4 decades. If I were you I'd opt for a Coop/Cockshutt E-4, 40, 560 or 570. The differentials and final drives are practically bullet proof. Of course putting needle bearings in the spider cross is preferred. Both the Oliver and Coop/Cockshutt transmissions have issues unless reworked.
