NFMS lite pro class February 18, 2018 03:16PM
Just wondering why you see all the tractors in the lite pro class and every other class for that matter must have side shields . And inner shields too. But the v-8 m-f tractor does not or did not . Not stirring anything up or crying at all!! Just not clear or don't know the rues well enough I guess. Seems like it would be just as important for any type of engine. But just thought someone more knowledgeable on the subject would know. Anyone know????

It’s pretty easy to explain/understand... V-8 engines in design are angled on both sides that only expose the block directly towards the ground. So say one breaks a crank and throws a rod, it’s going to be forced out and down.

Just as V-8 stated, with the V of the block and angled rotation of the pistons, the frame rails serve as the side shields. If anything breaks and exits the block, it will either hit the frame rails or the ground.

How come alky V8s (in tractors and trucks) don’t have to have spark plug shields?

Should all be made to have shields . 6 cy or v-8, ally or diesel. Safety is cheap!!! How about turbo wheels with no side shields... pretty safe ???

THE TURBO IS SHIELDED. SO IS THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK.
