gears for 466 limited pro January 15, 2019 01:59AM
Anyone running a 19 or 18:1 ratio with a 8500 limited pro with 466?

Yes

Re: gears for 466 limited pro January 15, 2019 02:10AM
Thanks. What would be a good low ratio to keep in the transmission for indoors or tighter tracks

if you can horse an 18 outside, 20 or 21 should be plenty low enough

While we're on the subject what kind of gears do you think the Hot Farm guys will run at gordyville

Which hot farm?

How many use a 18:1 gear in the 8500? I would have to get rid of my 22:1 and not sure which one would be more likely to use

What gear everyone else runs shouldn’t be your concern, what gear you can effectively turn should be your focus

I understand that advice and just looking for a overall common highest vs lowest gear used, but was just curious as to what was more likely to be used in this class, a 22 or 18 to 1 gear. Especially for an indoor pull gear or clay track.

Direct to 3 over is a common setup for that class with a stock style transmission

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, what ratio typically do they run like at gordyville. Appreciate all the discussion

Re: gears for 466 limited pro January 19, 2019 11:23AM
Probably 16:1

Re: gears for 466 limited pro January 20, 2019 03:07AM
For some reason I don't think that on such a short track so I would assume your just being funny. Anybody else have experience or an honest answer.

I wasnt being funny, just stating my opinion on the matter. That's all.

Is this 3 over still with a 706 r&p or the slower 1066 r&p. Would it be better to have a 1 under with the 706

Fella’s there isn’t a blanket answer for this. It all depends on the rest of your setup. One setup will need geared different from another.

AAR is absolutely correct! No 2 setups are the same. Yall are just gonna have to bite the bullet and try the gears yall think ya need and roll with it. It will come to ya after a few hooks. Trust me, we've all been there. Not being smart nor do I think AAR is either, just speaking words of wisdom.

I completely understand guys and agree. Just wast wanting to know or get someones advice on what would be more of a common setup with the 706 R&P thats all. Thanks

Curious, if you look a few posts up you will find your answer from AAR.
However you better have a strong motor! Good luck in your quest.

What gear ratios for 9500 badger and PPL rules???

Re: gears for 466 limited pro January 16, 2019 12:54AM
Badger state will run approximately 2-3 gears faster than the PPL hot farms yet have about the same track speed

Re: gears for 466 limited pro January 22, 2019 10:05AM
badger state style 466 tractors run anywere from 19-1 to 23-1 depending on track and tires
