working or a a message popping up on the cluster saying SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM? If so did you install aftermarket controller and pigtail? Help please Thanks

I got the same message. I cleaned the terminals on the truck and trailer and it worked. Also try putting another twist in you trailer harness before plugging it in. It helps to keep the cord aligned and connector aligned too. After it’s plugged in. Squeeze the truck connector lid and male plug on the trailer together like you would a pliers. It binds the two together and reduces the likelihood of it working loose.

My 2012 did this for a while, mine ended up being a bad front wheel speed sensor. For some stupid reason it would disable the trailer brakes and stabilitrak when the signal would get flaky which was bad news when towing.

Common for wiring to rub through near the Left Rear cab mount area.

Just another reason to steer clear of the Train Wreck General Motors. They fleeced the American people with the bail out and still sending junk out the door. A once great auto maker gone in the tank. They had other brake issues as well. Very poor quality!

I make a living working on GM cars and trucks at the dealership. Not uncommon for trucks to come in with trailer brake issues. 90% of the time its the trailer or driver error.

It has the be the $70k truck that is still under warranty, not the 20 year old POS trailer that sits out back in the weeds with scotch locks on the wiring and bare wires hanging under it...
