Cui or rpms

Hi all looking for opinions, our class rules are 13mm p pump limit 401cui max @ 3000rpm or 3200rpms allowed under 370cui, no water injection, intercooler allowed no turbo limits.
Currently run a Deere 359cui but have a 6.8/414 sitting. If I was to decube the 414 would there be any advantage with 200rpm less? |

all about stroke

359/6059 stroke = 4.33"
414/6068 stroke = 5.00" Both are same bore at 4.19" For me, it's a no brainer. I'd decube the 414 on the bore ever so little and run with it. That long stroke will produce way more torque at low rpm. Just my opinion. |

Thanks that's what I was thinking. |

If this is a light weight class and using a good intercooler do not give up bore size. The rpm difference would nearly offset the cube difference but not quite. I’d destroke the 414 imo and more importantly I’d use whichever engine has the better cylinder head |

The bore reduction is so minimal it will be of no real consequence. We're talking like .065" reduction to make the ci limit. |

Your opinion is fine and naturally the cheapest route. But bottom line is whichever engine has the best cylinder head coupled without reduced bore size with those rules will make the most power. If easy and cheap is the goal then I agree your way is the best |

Cylinder heads are identical. Class is 7700lbs. |
