Alcohol fuel and the smoke tube February 17, 2020 02:32PM
The post below about DSS exhaust pipe size got me wondering why alcohol engine vehicles, especially tractors, aren’t required to have a pipe to exhaust their fumes through the smoke tube on the sled during indoor pulls. I have been around pulling all my life and all I have ever heard was theories, so what is the real reason? I’ve heard that there is a chance of an explosion from all the raw fuel, but I would think the massive volume of air being pulled through the tube would snuff any fire or threat of explosion. It just seems if there was a way to exhaust the alcohol fumes it would be so much better for spectating not to mention health and also damage to the pulling venues.
