new NTPA rule (hot off the presses) February 18, 2020 02:55PM
Kudos for being proactive! From NTPA Tech page:

Late-Breaking News: Attention all pullers, updates to general rules effective immediately:

The following words are deleted from page 23 of NTPA rulebook number 4:

“if not bolted directly to gearbox or back of belhousing with a minimum of three 3/8” grade 5 bolts”

It now reads:

4. The following rule will apply to all divisions that use solid driveline shields over 16 inches in length:

Note: this also applies to Mini Rod division and the intermediate shaft on FWD.

All free-floating driveline shield components must be tethered on each end by two opposing restraints, Tethers must attach at 180 degrees of each other and a minimum of 3” and a maximum of 6” from each end of each driveline shield component. Tether to be constructed of a minimum of 5/16 “ chain or 2” wide by 1/8” thick nylon strap. One end of tether must attach to driveline shield by a minimum of one 3/8” grade 5 bolt attached to a tab (minimum 2”wide) to be welded to shield while the other end of tether must be attached to chassis by a minimum of one 3/8” grade 5 bolt.

Note: FWD drivelines that use driveshaft hoops must use same tether configuration to be attached to main or common hoop holder between chassis and hoop assembly.

Not sure if it was here, but saw that Thursday or Friday. Glad no one was hurt in the incident, and good on them for doing it right away.
