Actual ground speed April 29, 2020 04:36AM
I’m trying to figure out the actual ground speed on a 4640 quad range with 18.4x46 tires in high gear, this won’t be used in a pulling application but would like to know the expected road speed before changing things the formula I’ve found is as follows (rpm x axle height) / (23.3x 168) = mph but I’m not sure on final ratio being 23.3-1 is this correct?

Yes, I get the same formula.

MPH = Engine RPM * Axle Height / (Total Gear Ratio * 168)

Axle height (rolling radius) is in units of inches
Total Gear Ratio for your tractors setup from engine output shaft to the axle is 23.3
