Changing gears in JD 4speed? Urmson transmission? July 14, 2020 03:32AM
Does anyone have insight into changing gears in a 4speed trans? I am to believe this is a Urmson transmission but am not certain. I have extra gears but am not certain on the change out process. Also any information on if this transmission is capable of having a PARK in it would be helpful.

Current gear shift pattern is as follows
1st gear = D Range & 1st
2nd gear = D Range & 3rd
3rd Gear = Park & 1st
4th gear = Park & 3rd
Reverse = B range & reverse 1

Mueller, did you phone Urmson at Dynomitrix 724 898 zero, zero, seven, ate?
I see he is not listed in pulloff "business directory". However, Tom continues to advertise in "the Puller".
He lists "4430 down to 4010".

I interviewed Tom a few years ago for a "Legends" story.
He is an engineering whiz, with many patents in the railroad industry to his credit.
Back longtime ago, when his IH 460 was dialed in, "I Soar" was quite formidable.

You have to keep calling him. He will respond eventually. Try different times of day. I've had the most success in late afternoon.
