Air to air intercooler size?

I'm making my tractor's intercooler now. I have room for maximum 20"x 16" x.... core. I was planning to mount 2 cores (back and forth)
local shop is offering me 3.7"x 20"x16" industrial cores. I'm planning to use cheap China 80W 10"x2 + 7"x2 fans to push air and same set for pulling air through. They have to move air through water radiator to. (2x1300CFM+2x800CFM) I can use only air to air intercooler no water. I have 290 cid engine 3000 rpm, turbo is making 70 psi Is this cooler idea good or am I just overthinking? |

I came to this idiotic idea that my setup will be to big to my engine, that I need to hold air longer in the intercooler. That I need thinner cores but use them more so air can be move two times back and forth.
Air temperature should be something like 570-660F what is coming out from the turbo. |

I don't think you can be too big. You aren't building boost and then getting out of the throttle to shift gears and then rebuilding boost over and over again like a semi truck would be doing. You are building boost on the line and easing out on the clutch. Go for it. |

Cooler came out like this, one core is 4.5" thick.
From engine side is going hot air in. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/15/2020 04:35PM by PullingJumz. |

Connect cooler in parallel not series to lower restriction and go with good flexa-lite fans to
Double the cfm for better efficiency. My 2 cents |
