JD 4020

Does anyone know where you can buy drop in Kits for a JD 4020 with 466 Bore? |

No such thing exists.
To change a 404 to a 466 you use the stock 466 sleeve with small o-rings on the bottom to seal the coolant. You’ll have to have a good shop bore the block out to fit the 466 sleeve in. |

If you want to turn your 404 into a 466 order a set of Ross pistons with thin wall sleeves to fit 404. Stroke your crank to 5.0625 and you have created a 470 cubic inch smoker. I wouldn’t do it to a 4020 404 but does work well in a 1973 and newer 404. |

Since we’ve gotten off topic. I wouldn’t bother stroking one unless it was to 5.5”, with the stock 4.25 bore that gives you 468 cubic inches and probably the best bang for the dollar. Modified stock pistons on IH rods, economical.
If one were going to do all this work and still try to keep a stock appearing setup for a 4010/4020 I would start off with a 4520 block. If your considering using a 73 and newer 404 block just stop right there, go find a 466 block to start with, preferably a crank driven oil pump. Or better yet scare up a 7.6. |

Try White Elephant Performance, they specialize in the not so ordinary. |
