Pro Pulling League Announces Champions Tour Pre-Commit Competitors – Part One

Charlestown, IN (April 19th, 2021) – As we emerge from a year of uncertainty and unique challenges, the 2021 pulling season for the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League becomes clearer as a return to normality for pullers, promoters, and fans as well. With a full compliment of Champions Tour events lined up for this season, an elite group of competitors have stepped forward to be part of the pre-commit program with the PPL. Today we focus on five classes with the balance of classes and competitors announced later this week.

Nineteen pullers from eleven states have stepped up for the pre-commit program in the ever-exciting ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractor class. Terry Blackbourn returns to defend his 2020 championship aboard the Team Chizek CaseIH named Armed and Dangerous-Excessive Force. The Haug family will have their Little Temptation Case back in action attempting to leap ahead of the Chizek juggernaut from their second place finish in 2020 while Brice and Tayton Terry have sights of improving on their third place finish on the Hystrung Allis-Chalmers machine. The Southern Illinois Showdown at The Track at Holzhauers in Nashville, Illinois will be the first hook for Lightweight Supers.

A familiar name in a familiar position returns to defend his 2020 championship in the newly-named Line-X Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Truck division with Terry Hagedorn at the wheel of his mountain-motor Kickin’ Up Dust Chevrolet. Ten other hard-charging pullers have their sights set on dethroning Hagedorn, including 2020 points runner-up Graham Young in the Renegade Dodge and third place finisher Jim Bosch in the Midnight Raider. The Mackville Nationals in Mackville, Wisconsin will host the class for their first hook on June 18th.

Robust is one way to describe the Summit Racing Mini-Rod class as twenty pre-commit pullers are lined up for 2021. 2020 Champion Bruce Slagh and the Show No Mercy machine returns to defend his title, while former champions Abbey Leischner (Bobcat Jr.) and Richard Peters (Buckeye Special) lead the chase to upend Slagh’s 2021 campaign for another championship. The Mini-Rod season kicks off on May 21st at the GALOT Mule City 300 on May 21st in Benson, North Carolina.

Two-time class champion Bethany Nelson and her Sweet Revenge Chevrolet leads a huge offering of Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Trucks with thirty-one total entries in this division. Second place competitor Brandon Simon returns again in 2021, and third place puller Jessie Petro seeks out his first PPL Championship in the P5 Ford Ranger. Two Wheeler competitors answer the call to the track with a season debut at the GALOT Mule City 300 on May 21st in Benson, North Carolina.

Wrapping up today’s announcement is the ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck class. Multi-time champ Kent Crowder has the Scheid Diesel Dodge set once again for another title run with fourteen other entries looking to knock him off the top of the mountain in the most powerful of all the diesel truck classes. Longtime foe Van Haisley and his Rock Hard Ram looks to claim that elusive class championship coming off a second place finish while former class champion Cody Hastings and his Against the Grain Dodge look to return to championship form in 2021. Super Stock Diesel Trucks kick their season off at the Battle at the Fort in Fort Recovery, Ohio on June 4th.
