Mike Holden ran 4 allisons from around 1987ish-1991. If memory is correct, NTPA dropped the 11k unlimited after 1989 and in 1990 and 91, the heavy unlimited weight was 9200 lbs... and what a great class that 1990 season had.
I've heard an urban legend that Holden had a 5-allison tractor in the works for the 9200 class, but after 1991, NTPA dropped the weight to 8200 lbs. 2 questions- 1) Can anyone verify if Holden did in fact draw plans to build a 5 allison tractor, and 2) if so, what would it have looked like? Would it have been two in front and three behind, or some other setup. Trying to imagine how close that would have been on weight with either Holden or Ron Barga in the driver's seat. Barga drove for Holden during those last couple seasons in the 9200 class. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 06/28/2021 03:53AM by The Original Michael. |
