Tire choices
|
Here's the dilemma:
1200 hp Hot Farm type tractor, 24.5 x 32 double cuts or 20.8 x 38 double cuts? My concern is not enough hp to run the 24.5 to spin enough, plus loosing speed (momentum) The 20.8 would give me more speed (momentum) and be easier to spin. 24.5 have a 200 inch circumference, 20.8 have a 220 circumference. Thoughts?? Thanks in advance...... |

Dominic, keep your stupid comments to yourself.
Larry, What’s the rest of the class look like? Is there a mix of tires in the class already? Realistically you need to be able to pick the right gear or let the engine rpm make up the difference if your speed is close. I’ve seen double cut 20.8’s dominate a hot farm class with the rest on 24.5’s struggling to catch up. On a good track the 20.8 is tough to beat, on not so great tracks the 24.5 usually comes out on top with the hp about the same. |

There’s a mix of 24.5 pullers and 20.8 ag tires that are cut.
Sometimes the fatter tires do better, sometimes the taller ones do. Hard to determine. But thanks for the comments. Larry |

20.8 are the way to go, either bar cut or double cut you cant really go too wrong. |
