Bosch MW Injection Pump Vs P7100

I am looking for information on injection pumps. We have a 89 dt466 with the mw injection pump on it. We are planning to put the ag front gear cover on it. I see that the p3000/p7100 that are on the 94-96 are a left hand rotation pump. If I mount the p7100 in place of the mw pump, do you need a left hand rotation pump or right hand? i see majority of the right hand pumps are for the cummins 5.9. Just trying to get some information. Thanks |

Anything PRIOR TO the NGD or New Generation Diesel are like your M&W and are normal rotation P pumps. The NGD'S are reverse rotation p-7100's and will Not Work in place of your M&W |

So form what im gathering, i can remove the mw pump, swap the gear to the p pump and it will mount right to the old mw adapter plate? |

I was referring to the rotation question. Not 100 percent sure but it should mount as well? |

I believe I seen in another post about the gear and mount being the same but was hoping to verify. |

Not exactly

The only thing similar about the two pumps is the bolt pattern and that is it. The pilot hole is larger for the bearing end plate on the 7100 than the mw pump. Also you need to notch the mw mounting plate for the rack end cap on the p series pumps. The drive hub for the mw pump is 25 mm taper and the 7100 is 30 mm taper so that won’t work either. |

gotcha. so it would work with the smaller shaft p3000 pumps. |

Yep

Yes, the mw hub and mounting plate will work with the early p3000 pump. The later p3000 like on your cummins and John Deere applications used the larger “7100” bearing end plate and 30mm nose camshaft. However still keep in mind that you will need to notch the plate out for the rack end cap on the p series injection pump. Also you need to install a rear support under the p series injection pump otherwise you will break that mw plate due to the much larger mass of the p pump. |

I believe I see what your saying about notching out the mounting plate for the rack end plug just based off looking an pictures of new ih pulling p-pumps. Im sure we can just machine the adapter/gear hub from a 25mm taper to a 30mm to mate with 7100, or just might be better to machine a complete new. Guess we will see when we get both units pulled apart and try to mate them together. |
