Requires removal of fuel tank and a smaller tank afterward. This method does not cut out the fenders like some do (factory), but rather cuts out the platform. Didn’t want to cut up hard to find fenders, and you can tighten up your wheel spacing as there is no rops bar 3 inches wider than the platform.
I used 3x6”, I believe it was , rectangular tubing, cut bottom/top to desired angle, get some flat bar 1/2” thick 1 for top 1 for the bottom and drill 4 holes to strap around axle housings. Block up platform and remove the factory supports, then cut out the platform for the uprights to fit through. Get another chunk of plate and drill a hole in it the size of the bolt that went through to the old platform support. Bolt it to the platform, then when you set the uprights in weld those plates to the uprights. Now the rear of the platform is supported by the rops. The uprights of the rops will be flush or less than with the edge of the platform so the fenders fit right on. Not easily removed however if you need to remove it, you’ve got lots of work ahead, what’s another couple hours. Hopefully you can picture that. |
