What are your thoughts
|
Just wondering
|
If a 1066 and 1466 can go from a 414/436 to a 466 and a 6030 can go from a 531 to a 619 can an 8.3 cummins become an 8.9? I realize it depends on what organization you pull with but if the big 2 are aloud to go bigger then shouldn't others be able too as well? |

The only difference between the two at this point is the crank. In earlier years the 8.3 had a flat tappet cam the 8.9 had roller lifters. Don’t go with the earlier 8.9 as the roller lifters are smaller in diameter and the retaining pins are cast into the block not removable like the newer 8.9’s.
4945772 is the part number for the 8.9 4936028 is the part number for the ISC aka 8.3 They are the same block. Been dealing with this platform for 21 years now. |
