For some it doesn't matter. They just want to see the show, but motorsports are different from other sports. Brands matter and people root for brands. If brands don't matter then why does having different colors matter. I don't have numbers, but at all the pulls I go to the majority of the spectators around me root for a brand. The wear the hat of a certain brand.

This seems like a new phenomenon to me. Pro-stocks down to farm stocks have sometimes shown a flame at the line or sometimes underload, but I can't hardly recall a diesel putting out a big flame while idling at the end of a run. What is burning off or what has changed? Saw several do this at Mt Sterling and Bowling Green.

It seems that in racing currrently turbos provide the most hp. Most of the series that handicap the different power adders make the turbo cars weigh the most. They also seem to require less intensive maintenance than blowers. Why have they never taken off in pulling? I know there have been a few, but to my knowledge none that have been consistantly competitive.

I disagree about the 90% of fans not caring. I feel rooting for brands drove all motor-sports more than rooting for drivers, and in my opinion the lack of manufacturer involvement and distinction is hurting many types of motor-sports now. I acknowledge the younger fans may not care as much as the older fans do, but I think more than half of fans are routing for a brand.

That is true not OEM, but still parts based on a specific brands equipment. Therefore the fan can still find some heritage back to a brand.
Would it be good for pulling if pro-stock and super-stock sheet metal became more like monster jam bodies? That resembled no brand? To about 95% of the people I know who are fans and attend pulls it matters.

I agree nothing left on these as came from the factory, but the block has to be a tractor block or recast based on a production block.(Getting into those rules is not the point of the post) Therefore since nothing else on the tractors are factory the engine is the only thing that really attaches them to a brand. I understand brands don't matter to some, but they do for others.

Or in this case does the engine match the tin
I know the rules that allow any brand block in any brand tractor have been discussed a lot on here. I also know there are folks on both sides. Many like myself are brand loyal and dislike these rules. I have also seen others defend it saying it brings more color, none of the components are factory anyway so it doesn't matter etc.
