check out the 1620/1640--1644---2144---2344 case ih combine they had a 5.9 Cummins in them using the same pto. housing as the older ones with ih engines in them a..should be able to get one of those and use as an adapter .... pto. housing to engine block plate..

its the dwell time ......time piston stays at the top of the cylinder before starting back down ..longer rods allows for a longer roll over of the crankshaft before piston speed picks back up going other way ...

there is one small difference in the blocks at the front where the 4 bolts hold the block to the frame rail there may be different spacings on that bolt pattern if your combine doner engine is say 82 or older i think there be no problem .... then change was made in 50 series production i think so a later model combine may have a different bolt pattern ..there is a difference in the tach drive th

injector line length has to be the same length for the timing to be the same on all cylinders ...as with all mechanicl pumps the fuel is sent out at the same rate so th need to arrive at the proper time in the injection cycle so yes same length is the rule...IHSMOKE

use only a hardin rod only.... DO NOT TRUST A STOCK ROD!!! especially if they are old used take outs they may have a ton of hours of stress u cant see ....if u are building a high dollar engine do not take that short cut ....if anything have your stock rods checked for strech, twist, of compression ..(oh so slightly bent) in the thousandts of bend u cant see ...just think like this if u had a

just switch out and use a 66 series bell housing then the rear enginre plate will be smooth along the side ..note the extra meat of metal from the frame rail bolts to the outside edge it is wider on a 66 than on a 06 ... IHSMOKE

pull out your bearing books as there is two different main bearing part numbers in this block with a serial number break but i dont know but i believe all 467 and 468 where large lifter blocks....IHSMOKE

be careful there is some differences in the bearings "mains " in a 468 block there is a serial number break get u a clevite bearing book it will tell ya...ihsmoke

my opion is to be prepared to make two passes every night .. remember when all those different wieght classes ran same night ... conservitave now is one pass a nite ..... well those old engines used to have to run multiple times a day ....in different weights ... i guess its just elvolution of the sports growing pains.... so build for two passes and have fun .... after all that why i like super
