Not really. The trans pump is an open center system, steering & brakes are closed center. The trans pump supplies pressure for the clutches and feeds the main hyd pump, what oil is left lubricates the clutch & trans.

you can check for a high pressure leak to sump by starting the tractor when everything is dead cold, let it run without using any hydraulic functions for 15 minutes or so, check for 'hot spots' by feeling lines, brakes, steering, rockshaft, SCVs. if you suspect a function, cap it off and try again when everything cools down. repair accordingly.

some items to be aware of: water pump, front engine pulley, radiator fan blades, alternator to injection line clearance, air cleaner system, if below 201 4020 will need flywheel machined to fit neck on 466 crank, may need to add 2 bolt holes in flywheel, throttle linkage won't be too bad, if below 201 4020 with dual scvs will have some exhaust manifold to scv clearance issues, if using stock

The factory system works like this; oil is picked up by the transmission pump, goes through the filter, pressure regulating valve housing and then charges the main hydraulic pump. Any oil not needed by the hydraulic pump to operate functions (ie: steering, brakes, hitch, scvs) then goes out the top of hyd pump to cooler & reservoir, then back into the transmission at the top of the clutch housing

An 8970 has the Cummins 855 engine in it, it's not a
Deere engine. The 8770 & 8870 use a 10.1 Deere engine.

Stock A 2000 pump (4430/7700T) has 9.5 mm plungers, timing of the individual plungers is done by an adjustable screw. Stock A 3000 pump (4630) has 10 mm plungers, plunger timing is done by thickness of shims. As to which one is better for pulling? Ask your ADS.
