5000 is stronger, the engine combo you use can be a big difference in weight, if using a truck motor it will be close to 6000 without much movable weight that engine is heavy, will have to be weight minded on everything you do to make it lite enough.

A lot depends on the weight class you want to run if going to use a 5000 style transmission, can get half gears that go on & replace the low side range gears, that will give you 7th at 31-1, 7 1/2 at 27-1, 8th at 20-1, and 8 1/2 at 18-1, but would not recommend for over 6500lbs if running close to 1000hp, and if wanting to run 7th gear you will need to install a front steel plate as with the stre

The axle housing bolt pattern is all the same from the early 68 8000 threw the 30 series tractors, all used the same mounting gasket, however there is a difference in the upper bolt pattern verses the lower pattern as to only let you install the axle on the center housing one way.

If your just farming ect, just have the simms pump repaired, The p pump will require a lot of changes, there is not enough clearance for injection lines on top of pump to the square intake manifold, pump will have to be mounted at 2 oclock position, then will have to have different injection lines as old ones wont work, then throttle hook up will have to be customized and then you need a fuel sup

it depends on what RPMs you are going to run, 23 is stock timing for 2450 rpms.

23 degrees is stock for 2400 rpms, should be close to 30 for 3200 rpms, plus get rid of the mech fuel pump and open up the fuel lines as not large enough to handle what flow you need and keep pump supplied.

Extra fuel supply is not going to change the timing on that pump, only way to change it is the drive setting. what rpm are you trying to run?

The 600 & 700Fords had a 134 cid gas engine in them and the 800 & 900 Fords had a 172 cid gas engine in them and there was an industrial gas engine made that was 192 cid, they all look the same from the outside. I would try and find a 192 engine to start with and go from there.
