Buckeyefan,
Thanks for the info. I really did not know what the pre commit list was actually for. When you say that the competitors would get their pre-commit money at the end of the year provided they meet the criteria mentioned, was there a financial incentive (i.e over and above what they paid in at the beginning of the year) or did they just hand you back your checks? Or do pre-commit lice

Jake,
I agree that it would be a great thing to have some constructive ideas to help with the pre-commit issue. I have been reading through different topics about this for a while now and I am not sure I have heard anything other than it works or blow it up. Now mind you that I am what I would call a relative newbie on topics like these kinds of things, but have been a fan and around pulling f

Drew,
I am not associated with the upcoming pull in Mexico but your comments are a good reminder to all promoters to make sure they are doing what they can to get the word out about their pulls. While there is the issue of cost regarding flyers and radio spots locally, plus the fact that Facebook and/or many internet sites or message boards are free, promoters need to make sure they are best u

Well I'm not nearly educated enough to answer your questions but I love the education aspect. Pulling needs more of this!! I'll sit back and watch for answers.

So a couple of items to add here....
@New Generation...I think you are correct in your assessment that pulling needs to make some changes. Pulling HAS to make some changes or we are in trouble. I am not sure we are attracting many new fans outside of casual fans in the diesel truck class. In my opinion, those truck classes have the potential for the best growth because anyone can go down to th

Jake,
I like to think of the cross dressing thing like this...I have been to a lot of tractor pulls featuring pro stocks and super stocks. We make a bunch of parts for both classes. Some of these vehicles are brand loyal and some are "cross dressers". And I have heard lots of people in the stands and on here talk about how they don't like the cross dressing rule. But when one of those cro

Funny you mention Jason being in the mortgage business because he was one of the top mortgage lenders in the nationwide company he works for last year. Did about $45 million last year. Im sure he would gladly help anyone on here with there mortgage. But don’t think he’s looking for things to do. He closed five mortgages Friday at the pull while he was doing all his “annoying antics”.

Laura doesn't do breaks. She's all in. And after six sessions of pulling she was pretty well worn down at the after party for the crew. But if there were two more sessions to do the next day she would be ready to go. That's just Laura.

I did not mean to make you think I didn't get your OP. I was just explaining why he does the the "whoo" and "to the window to the wall" thing. Part of being a professional is trying to get the crowd excited about what is happening during the show. Some would say that Dave Bennett does a little too much talking at times or asking "Where are all my JD or IH fans at" etc... Doesn't mean he

There are new exhaust fans being installed starting this week. They were scheduled to be installed prior to the NTPA show this March after running the last NTPA show there. All other motorsports at the MEC are held in the coliseum which has the exhaust fans already installed. They were not anticipating the Midwest Winter Nationals to be moved to the MEC when scheduling the fan install which is wh

If you know Jason Schultz, then you know he is an intense guy. That's just his personality. And even he will tell you that sometimes his mouth moves a little faster than his brain. But I would venture to say that he does more for the sport of tractor pulling on a marketing/promoting level than maybe anyone in the country. He spends hours each day posting, responding, promoting, and just bein

The exhaust fans were scheduled to be installed before the NTPA event in March after the last event NTPA was held mainly because of the alky tractors. There were no other motorsports events in the trade show building (all of those are held in the coliseum because they have the exhaust fans already in place). They were not expecting the Midwest Winter Nationals to be moved to the MEC which is why

They did buy a LSS as well. It was purchased from Dan Dexter. Jeff Justus ran it as the Lightning and Thunder tractor in mostly ITPA but they did hit a few PPL's with it. Very strong running alky JD.

Holzhauers tractor is built the same as Waglers. Cast housings with a one piece frame. It was fully teched at Scheids by the PPL officials (Mears) and passed inspection (and yes they crawled under it to check it out)
Again....lots of misinformation out there.

It's really amazing how people can get on here and post things "that they heard". I was at Nashville on Saturday morning and actually helped Justin slide his tractor back together. His tractor is in no way a component. Cast housings with a one piece frame just as he said. And furthermore he actually discussed with a few of us (there was a group of us around trying to help him get back togeth

I was at the Cowtown Showdown. Ken and Ron and their team should be highly commended for making the absolute best show they could while dealing with a situation that was very much out of their control. Great venue and well organized pull. A few little glitches here and there but all were corrected in a timely manner. I am sure we will apply next year and look very much forward to going back if se

It's laughable how out of context peoples comments can be taken on here. If I read this correctly, Brent (and Jordan,Misty, and Dana for that matter) have been saying all along that they will run with the diesels and have acknowledged many times that the diesels can and have in fact beat them on occasion. Seems to me like they welcome the challenge and are by no means saying it's a give

It is very frustrating but keep in mind that this is a busy time of year for parts suppliers and builders of pulling parts. Not an excuse at all but it is a crazy time of year. With the indoor hooks happening and the prep for the summer schedule in full swing, it's kind of hectic. Are you looking for something in particular? If so, maybe post something about what your looking for and see wha

Number of dyno passes kind of depends on what you are building. Have to allow enough time between runs to get the heat out of the motor and make any changes before the next pass. Obviously the more changes made, the longer it takes between runs but talk to whoever you go to before you bring them a motor. They can usually point you in the right direction about where to start with timing, fuel, pum
