data recorder-recomendations - 15 years ago

i am serious considering installing a data logger on my sons 1cyl garden tractor.after looking at the ones availible through the gt parts suppliers, they record, rpm egt,cyl head temp, and driveshaft rpm.i would like to monitor the manifold vacuum,a h2o sensor, engine rpm.does anyone use a o2 sensor or a vacuum sensor on there recorder,if so what company are you dealing with.

Re: Way to insult EVERYONE! - 15 years ago

jake,i feel like i will lose my conection to the tractor if this mix and match will go on .i also wonder what will i conect with.will the fan loyalty be switched from the tractor to the driver.when at a pull spectating, the announcer states the make, model, driver, and home town.i would think most dedicated fans can tell you who the driver is,by knowing the tractors name, but has no idea who he is,thi

Re: N/A TRACTORS IN NTPA OR PPL???? - 15 years ago

this class looks like it has all the answers, factory block and metal, can haul it in ill,any fuel, small cubes, any manifolds, light wt,low maint, lots of natural color, lots of rpm's,every fan can connect to these brands, huge amount of tractors already in competition currently, this would be a true starter class to move up from .

Re: Lock N Load Statement - 15 years ago

agree totally.while sitting in the stands,it appears that most fans cheer for a certain brand, regardless who is driving.

Re: Patches - 15 years ago

i am not sure of a diesel advantage, how can a 5liter sb ford with a 80mm turbo be approaching 1500hp.i know they are using heads with very good port and chamber design, but wouldnt a 540 gas tractor motor with a 4.1 and heads with good ports and a average chamber surpass the 5 liter.i am assuming some sort of injection(port) will be used on the gas motor.

Re: Check out the POLL - 15 years ago

dick,it would be interesting to see a poll on if factory fuels would be allowed,on the gas thread it sounds like sparkplugs are a disadvantage.and on the big thread there is no mentionof it.so the diesel guys must not be to worried.

Re: is the lps afraid of gas??????? - 15 years ago

im assuming this would be a national class, with lots of hooks.so looking back through the years has there ever been one herc diesel or a mm diesel ever competitive,i dont mean for one or two hooks but consistently over a few years.i can not recall one.with all the talk of box turbos and a claimer rule, couldn't a gas or lp fuel system be made to work from off the shelf and catalog parts from

Re: is the lps afraid of gas??????? - 15 years ago

wouldn't the only blocks allowed be ag type.i can see the sawmill engine being used ,but what would it replace.shouldn't the replacement block be able to swing a ag crank.i would also agree with sdf823 on the dusty floor,i encountered problems in the 310 with serious cracking ,with no blower and moderate rpm's.

Re: is the lps afraid of gas??????? - 15 years ago

i cant see why not,if it is going to be a light pro class,it would make sense to use a fi system.the diesel tractors will get any size p-pump,so why cant a gas tractor use injection.look at cespedes mm,that tractor has been run for years, and has never dominated anything or anywhere.colbergs mm also,i havent seen it run but a few times, and it was not dominating either.as a matter of fact, most fans

is the lps afraid of gas??????? - 15 years ago

in all the talk below only one person comented on a gas fueled tractor.a 4010 never came with a p-pump,but it did with a carb.a oliver with a herc ,doesnt stand a chance, nor does a mm,probably could throw a case in there to.thier heads just are not good for performance.all three of these brands have a good option on gas power, even with the stock oem heads.all three can easily get to 540,all three

Re: Looking for input from Hot farm/ Div 10/ Light Limited/Pro Farm pullers to start one of these classes in Eastern Ohio, Western PA - 15 years ago

isn't there enough classes already for the larger frame tractors in this area now.just look in the farm and dairy,90 percent of the classes are for antique tractors, antique tractors with v-8's,at 3000 or 5000 rpm's,and 10,000-12,000 farm stock, open farm, hot farm,or super farm.the na 5500-7500 class is close to dead, and there is no class to hot rod a light tractor in,what is wrong w

Re: Ford Pullers read this!!! - 15 years ago

does the 6000 only have a select o speed transmission,or is there a direct gear drive also.this really sounds like a low budget ride.i know around here the 300-6 motors are everywere in junkyards.is this 362 dorsett motor like a 300 or a 401.also would a rear from a 4000 or 5000 work.

Re: Ford Pullers read this!!! - 15 years ago

is the 300-i6 block compareable in physical size to the origanal engine in a 6000 ford.did the 6000 use a 220 cuin engine from the factory?also is the 300 a bolt in for the 6000.

Re: Ford Pullers read this!!! - 15 years ago

ed gortner might be of some help.he runs a 6000 in a na class in oh and in,there are some videos of him on you-tube .look under na antique tractors it is a link from a lot of other videos, there are 3 of them.

Re: Ford Pullers read this!!! - 15 years ago

wwithin the last few years, hot rod magazine, had a couple of pics and a small article about the 300-6 being used in a roadster for drag or land speed racing.the article stated that the engine used a aluminum aftermarket head and manifold.the head was not a one off homemade, but a production piece.also offy made a intake for this motor.both of these might be worth looking into.

Re: New Market, Iowa - 15 years ago

doesn't bg have thier tarps at trackside,no matter what the weather is.when it rains they walk down and pull it out.ive been there on tue and wed and i think the tarps were there just in case.
by patches - Pulling Forum

Re: New Market, Iowa - 15 years ago

the facility needs to supply the tarp.the track could very well need covered prior to the event.bg coveres both tracks if rain starts, have seen it done many times, and it has saved a few sessions, and made many pullers and fans happy.

Re: facilities at BG - 15 years ago

at the front of the campgrounds there is a block building, probably 6 stalls in it,on back in the campgrounds,i think by the ditch, there is a trailer with showers in it.i havent been in the trailers for years, they always were clean.both places always had hot water though.up on the grounds there are a few places to shower also, maybe 3 stalls in the little bld,and 6 in the newer bld.if your showerin
