I've been to Gordyville several times. The pits are vary busy, but that's the same with any pit area. Some places just have more room then others. I would never discourage a first timer on going. Vary affordable tractor pull to go and watch. The quality of tractors is second to none. Last year we ordered the show on paper view. I was vary pleased with that as well. I live in Minnesota s

The quarters inn in Rantoul is a good experience if you not to fussy. I've stayed there for both Gordyville and the Half Century of Progress show. Always interesting there. Got to take part in a fire drill once too. Somebody microwaved a muffin with the wrapper still on at 2am.

Watonwan county fair in St.james MN is hosting the John Spitzner Memorial tractor pull. John was a hard working young farm boy who past away early this spring. He died from a heart attack at the age of 36. John loved helping at his local county fair. John also enjoyed competing in the tractor pull with his G John Deere, and his 3010 John Deere. I would like to see as many pullers and spectators f

Well that settles it I will shine the bearings up. I always thought it was a coating on them. But it must be the heat treating. Thanks for the info on your technique.

I have been told two differant things. I have been told to lightly remove the coating on Clevite H bearings. I have also been told to leave the coating on. Just unsure what to do. The thought of using a Brillo pad on a bearing just scares me. What does everyone else do? Any advice will be appreciated!

A stock clutch will take a fare amount of power. But if your buying new from a dealer save that money and put a steel flywheel in. Do it right if your gonna pull it. It's just not worth running a cast flywheel, to many bad things have happened running a cast flywheel.

I don't know of anything that runs a 466 w/o a turbo. But a 414 in a 966 is about 100 hp at the fly wheel. A 1440 combine was about 115 with no turbo.

Here is an unrestored 1456 gold demo I found. The pics show what you need to look for. It has to be a 1970, it has to have a black steering console. And of course gold paint some place on it. Happy hunting!

I like to get a coffee can about half full of the oil I'm gonna use. Then I dip the entire piston and rings in the oil. Put the ring compressor on and drop it in.

Most likely they will pull away from the lake. Summer Sizzler pull was differant because they planted so many oats for the Threshing Bee. There wasnt room on the lake side of the track to have everyone lined up down there.

Not really anything to do with pulling. I have an 826 LP gas Hydro, and I cant find a starter that will work. It has a 301 engine in it, I bought it with a starter in it that didnt work and the ring gear was bad. I put a new ring gear and starter in. The starter gear is to high above the ring gear to catch the teeth on the gear. Has anyone ran into something like this? Any info would be great! Th

Kinda cold here in Southern MN tonight. Watching the race and old pulling videos on youtube. I got to wondering does anybody know where I can get a copie of the song Turning The Power On by Bobby Bear? They play it on a lot of the old TNT pulling shows on youtube.

That 429 was IHs industrial engine you can still get overhaul kits for them. They are a vary good engine. If you put a used engine back in it your still not sure how long that engine will last. I would overhaul the 429 then you know you have a good engine.

The diamond blocks are out of trucks. That is the same logo as on the truck hoods. Thiese engines are roller cams. And i Believe they have heavier crank shafts.

Probably not unless you have reason to rebuild the engine. Maybe a 15 to 25 hp gain in 3000 rpm engines.
