Just a question........JLR
Does your organization actually tech and check for cubes prior to the season and or when a new tractor comes to the group or club? Or is it only if someone protests and has to put up money for a tech inspection?

I'll have to disagree, without a speed limit the money rockets right up unless your really tight on engine and turbo. Its much harder to drive an 18mph than a drop the throttle and roll but it costs more to go fast.
But I really like the listed limits above from MMPTA

Assuming you do the bulk of the work yourself, obviously some things your going to buy like fuel inj system, turbo and such. You can build one that can compete from scratch for $20-25k.

If your serious about keeping cost in check heres my 2 cents worth. We run this exact class and it is VERY popular.
Weight 12,500 however Id suggest 11-11.5 as the only tractors with problems under 12.5 are 6030's and the 619 can easily be refit into a smaller lighter JD of many series.

Just take a look at the For Sale side and see all the prostocks and SS for sale, theres your answer. Money is out of control. Get standard rules in place across the low levels and pull back max cubes on high levels. You cannot sustain yourself on a limited budget when running a Prostock costs you $2500 a a weekend to maintain or much more the higher levels you go to. Hell competetive SF tractors

I'd chime in with agreeing unless there's a way to level the playing field so more can be truly competitive and that gets more colors back in the mix while getting the dollars reasonable then start counting the days down until the SS classes are gone. I'm a die hard IH guy but seeing the same 3 not just win but pummel the next closest tractor has run its course. I can sympathize wi

My 2 cents, go ahead and check the ground for a cover crop. In the meantime make sure it is graded or shaped appropriately so it drains well, try to get a good soil mix, clay-topsoils-good dirt, mix in some sort of organic, like maybe straw that was used for bedding or maybe sawdust that was bedding or even straight sawdust. Plant a cover crop and let it grow. Take a look at it next spring and wo

Just watch the For Sale ads, there's been a steady diet of SF and Lim Pro tractors and chassis for sale all year. In another couple weeks there will be more as the season winds down. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have one but the money has just gotten so far out of control to be competitive for many having one of those toys isn't even possible. I a strong believer in setting

We run same size tire in similar class. Ran in stainless screw every 3 inch used 1inch length, also added a dab of anti seize just to make them run in easy.

They ran all three this past weekend at Mackville and after Beer Money did a podcast with them about the three tractors. Tractor 3 was intended to allow them to run both NTPA and PPL but whatever the schedule conflicts where are now gone so they plan to run all 3 every week with #3 being a bit of an R+D tractor. Like it or not with this class everyone will need to pick their poison, work hard and

Mr Roberts:
Fantastic reply and well done with your stats to back up the reasoning behind why you are doing this the way you do. I love pulling and our local is always trying to find ways to keep cost contained. I am firm in the thought that the cost of this sport to particapate will be its undoing if not somehow controlled yet allows a good show and competition is on a high level. No fan is w

I have to agree with whomever said the IH split on a hard front end bounce. I watched the video a bunch of times and it seems to look like the failure happened right after the hard hit. I also saw other pics showing the clutch and crank together with the input shaft sticking out of the clutch, to me that says the trans casting busted apart as part of the failure which let the input shaft slide ri

WOW Great ideas! never been to this show but always followed the commentary. Without even being there I agree with your thoughts 100%. get the kids and crowd involved, "Fun it up". The T-shirt cannon would be HUGELY successful idea especially the way teams now have team tshirts. And they do have to do something about the smoke/fumes, years ago people didn't pat much attention to a little smo
