I am a truck guy through and through but SSD has become unwatchable. It's 100% pure bounce fest, and while I agree that everyone has to drive their butts off, I can't stand watching them pedal the thing so badly out of the hole, and then finally hit full zoot, then go into superbounce at the end. It's a crap show. I hope someone in that class has the sense to find a better tire

Good points by everyone...
An electronic sled moves everything into the future - think about it - variable rates on the box, variable apply on the pushdown, all written into code in a PLC (and not a laptop).
Everything everyone has said can be put into code and the friction force applied can be managed from super smooth to crack your neck.
I am sure mechanical / hydraulic sleds will be

There is an easy solution but people won't like it much....
Sleds are linear devices....meaning there is a gear ratio that stays constant (even though you can choose different gears) though the run. You move X feet, you get Y travel on the box. Simple.
Solution: drop the gearbox and use a linear motor or encoder and ballscrew and servo drive. The box tra

I don' think moving the cab is worth it at all. If you want more weight forward....just put some big billets on the side of the sled or on the pan.
Also, with some of the classes, I'm not sure having the cab nearer to the dirt spray would make things any better for the operator. Since I've never operated one....I'll have to leave that to someone with firsthand experience.

Groundpounder, since you can't tell the difference between this and a drunk driver, I'll explain it to you.
I would gladly welcome prohibition, if it was clearly shown that you could hit 100 people on your drunk driving tour, and 10 of them died.
At that point, the trail of carnage you left behind is so widespread that you now lose your rights. Too darn bad. Oh you have to stay

I say let them go. Just sign a waiver saying no healthcare for you. You get "tha rona", good luck toughing it out in your own bedroom.
Seems fair enough.

I know the rules better than you do Chris, guaranteed.
Heck, even the small IHI on a LB7 Dmax will do 550 repeatably. The newer generations will do more.
Little hint, it's not just the turbo.

The truck mentioned above has a stock turbo.
The Ford 6.4, GM 6.6, and CTD 5.9/6.7 can all make 500hp with a stock turbo and tuner. If you cannot make at least that number, you will get serious footage put upon you. The definition of daily driver horsepower goes up every year; a lot of progress is being made. Still nowhere near was a 400 cu in gasser can do with boost and rpm....

I am personally familiar with one of the trucks you're questioning and I assure you it was never a 2.6 truck, and furthermore, it is daily driven. It has been put together thoughtfully and the setup obviously works. But there are no secret squirrel parts on there that no one else has.....anyone could put those same parts on a similar truck and do similarly well. I could write out the recip
