CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 10, 2011 04:04PM
For all the die hard fans of Case IH and John Deere the 2011 Embro Tractor Pull set the stage to have the biggest tractors of both brands battle it out in a 50, 000 + lbs. class. Both CIH STX 535 QuadTrac and JD 9520T track tractors competed in the class.

QuadTrac vs Deere 9000T

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 10, 2011 05:21PM
well that isnt the biggest cih has a 600

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 11, 2011 12:47AM
For that new of a john deere there sure was a lot of smoke out the exhaust.....surely the john deere dealer didn't "tune" that tractor up to skew the results did they????? John deere has nothing now or even in the works to compete with the 600 quad in stock form!

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 11, 2011 12:50AM
Plus I'd never bet against a comparable tractor with a 2,000lb advantage over its competition! I believe in stock form the quad will out weigh the jd by that much anyway so obviously the deere boys stacked the deck in their favor!

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 11, 2011 01:27AM
the quad track has less weight per square inch of track surface than the jd or challengers. so to match the weight of the john deere it would need to weigh somewhere in the 58 to 60000lb to equal the same weight as the jd. i know for a fact that the quad track will out work the john deere any day in the field.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 11, 2011 11:34AM
Wasn't there that night but I've pulled there before and he quad should not have gone down the right side. Better luck next time.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 11, 2011 04:38PM
thequad is nearly 100 horse bigger than the 9520

The funny thing is is that they did this for fun and for the fans and you people are getting all bent out of shape over this. Its funny how something little like this makes a big fight over what is better and what is suppost to win.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 12, 2011 04:24PM
To tell the truth I don't think a fendt would stand a chance in that heavy class. Those tracked machines are impressive.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 13, 2011 01:45AM
Well massey man, check out my youtube link, we pull smaller fendts vs tracked machines often. I even pulled a 8670 MF. Have yet to lose Smiling

Well cutting grass or dragging ass, I bet you Morgan badger's 1066 with the fake blue bottle could walk right past your Massey or fendt!

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 12, 2011 04:28PM
JUST REMEMBER 1 TNG- DEERE HAS IT'S OWN ENGINE AND CNH HAS TO OUT SOURCE.

EVEN THOUGH DEERE MAY USE A COUPLE OF OIL LEAKER RATTLER CUMAPARTS, THEY'LL KEEP UPING THE ANTEE

If you look close enough you will find detroit diesel somewhere on that john deere motor.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 13, 2011 09:38AM
Talk the Talk but can they Walk the Walk!!! Take a look.

Have a Ford 8N Was my dads. Circa 60 years old . Still in the field every day. No tracks. Just a work horse and no colours.

So what JOHN DEERE has a detroit diesel in it ?

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 20, 2011 01:17PM
no you're wrong. you will find JDFW cast on every 12.7 detroit right behind the air compressor.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 13, 2011 02:34AM
Are saying there is something wrong with a Cummins? Seriously? Put your hat back on with the bill on the front, pull up your pants and tuck in your underwear.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 14, 2011 04:34AM
TOO DAMNED funny. Both tractors are excellent machines, each has great traction. There is a difference in sq inches per pound of weight and how effectively they turn in difficult conditions. The green tractor has a good engine, the Red tractors engine is used in many many applications sucessfully. Which is better? I could not answer that. Although I would assume a tractor that is 5000# heavier might have a advantage??? Maybe equil weight would even the playing field??? Of course I have only been pulling tractors for 40 years, what would I know?
Hooking a field tractor to a pulling sled on a hard track has NEVER proven the superiority of any machine and never will. Just too DAMNED FUNNY..

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 14, 2011 05:18AM
im kinda assuming in the first video that the dozer hooked between the tr and sled had its blade down too a certain depth ????

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 18, 2011 12:58PM
The dozer blade was not down. The dozer just fit nicely on the steel pan and allowed us to have a static weight of about 30, 000lbs. This helped keep the tractors from powershifting up to road gear and gaining momentum. The sled operator re-pulled the track machines without the dozer in-between and the tractors went full pull without even labouring the engine. The steel pan is 10" wide and 20" long and weighs about 3000lbs alone it has a few pieces of rebar welded under the pan to create drag but prevent the track from being ripped up to much. We are the only pull in the area that can weigh the big articulate tractors with a 80,000lbs scale on site and this year was the only time we have been able to stop a QuadTrac and that required the dozer and pan to do so.

john deere has a quad track to. they use it on road construction with a blade on it the motor is in the back of it. theres one on new york thruway between exit 39 and 40.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 19, 2011 01:28AM
Who does case ih outsource their engines to? Last time I checked every steiger and magnum coming across the assembly line had a CASEIH branded engine manufactured by fiat power trains the parent company of CNH.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 19, 2011 03:04AM
One thing people seem to have missed is that many of these big tractors are detuned in low gears to save the drivetrain. I dont know what gears they are in when pulling, and i dont know what gears they are detuned in from the factory or if all of them are detuned but enough of them are.

Case used to use Case IH branded Cummins engines. Now they have their own in house engines which they partnered with Iveco to build. The 12.9 is what is used in the big steigers. Yes they are getting 600 rated hp out of a little 12.9L motor. beauty of SCR, you can meet emissions without big cubes. Unlike Challenger who is making 585 rated hp out of a 18.1L engine.

The 435 Deere came with a factory installed Detroit, as did the 8010/8020 (very rare) and some older wagners. Others have repower some models with 318s.

Here is a link to deeres high speed dozers with the 4 track design. Rumor is the guy who helped design these used to work for steiger.

Kinda funny how many things Deere copies from others. Follow, dont lead. Let others work out the bugs, bash it for awhilem then if it works, put some green paint on it and promote the hell out of it. This is why deere is successful in my opinion. They could sell a hooker to a Priest.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 20, 2011 08:57AM
what other company has a rubber tracked, articulating, high speed dozer???

last I checked, no one; not even one to copy!!

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 20, 2011 10:43AM
Yep your right, but i'd betcha if you turned that cab around on that "high speed dozer" what you would have is a 2+2 quad track......hmmmmm interesting

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 21, 2011 01:49AM
nope no 2+2 inginuity here; the concept came from using a loader frame and moving the cab forward for better visibility. would love to run one to try it, but until then i'm a little sceptical on the whole thing.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 21, 2011 12:57AM
Resale resale resale everybody knows that answer jd just the truth you ih guys and you know it

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 21, 2011 02:47AM
Deeres "truely unique" undercarriage is what I am referring to. It brings up speculation since the engineer working on them used to be an engineer for the Steigers. I could care less if its a doizer or where the cab is, its the undercarriage that makes you wonder.

Re: CIH QuadTrac and Deere 9000T in tractor pull August 21, 2011 10:13AM
I think anyone with an articulate JD, Cat, New holland, Buehler, etc. could buy aftermarket tracks and you would have a quad!!! not much engineering in that!!??
