just wondering who out there is running the 8.3 on alcohol and also wondering what needs to be done bottom end wise to take the rpm. any info at all would be great! thanks in advanced

Crank needs to be counterbalanced, needs girdled, have to machine the main caps flat for the girdle, thrust the main bearing thrust top and bottom.

we use a 8.3 crankshaft in our engine and it has proven very reliable.

I ran my engine with stock rods and decompressed diesel pistons for a couple years. Has a 1" girdle on it. The bottom end is very strong. I have the rods & pistons if anyone needs them.

You're not gonna find to many parts that are tougher right off the shelf. Cummins cranks are hard, the blocks are very high nickel content.
