Alot of alum, light tires and rims, all weight brackets have to be alum. |

Having a '39 M would help too. Those first year M's were lighter than those that followed. As unknown said, lots of aluminum--wheels, transmission top, several places to reduce weight. I have heard 3750# bare is possible; A '39 with a 200lb driver finished second in the 4250 King of the Hill in Tunica last year... Bryan Lively - |

I should note that on Main's M, he had a homemade front end that did away with the heavy cast "wishbone" and had regular truck rims on it. The rear tires were 18.4, but they were on 20" steel rims. |

Yep. It's the same guy. He did have to take off his wheel weight brackets to get into 4500. |

Ours weighs 4600 without driver, with 18.4 38 tires. Other than tin wheels on the back, it is not lightened at all. Still has cast front end, cast hubs, all steel wieght brackets and wheelie bars, even has the cast cover for tractor that came with no belly pump. It is a '39 though. hope that helps you some. 3500 is kind of a challenge. 4500 is fairly easy and attainable. Jeff |

I helped my cousin get his "M" lightened up to pull 4500.He ran 18.4 X 38,6 ply cuts on 23" wide steel rims.We built a front end with 12" dia. 3 rib tires, replaced the cast support under the front of the fuel tank with a fabbed support from 1" box tube.We ran minimal amount of oil in the rear end/trans,no belly pump,no belt pulley. The seat sat on a piece of 1 1/2" box tube, pto delete,no horseshoe bracket for the drawbar.Front, belly, and rear weight brackets were steel. He ran a 2 gallon aluminium fuel tank mounted on the nose. With a 225 lb.driver we added another 300 lbs.for the 4500 lb. class.Hope this helps. |

I had a Farmall M that we pulled in the 3750lb class with 100lbs of weight and a 170lb driver. It was on 13.6 x 38 tires. Aluminum top trans. cover, Steering wheel post, Seat box and customer made from spindle and upper bolster assy. Small radiator and used the small gas tank instead of the main tank. Only carried a gallon of gas. We pulled 4th gear and ran open RPM's. |
