IH Counter Shaft October 10, 2011 11:34AM
Has anyone heard of twisting the counter shaft on an IH. I can't seem to get it to come out. Does someone make a solid shaft.

Yep, I have heard of them being twisted. Have also witnessed it on a farm tractor. Cutting torch came out for that one, it was a 1486.

we have twisted one before, you'll have to cut it out with a torch. get a good machinist and press a solid shaft into the new counter shaft and weld on the end. end of problem

We've twisted a few of them, cut them out with a sawzall. Not alot of fun, used a Milwaukee "torch" blade seemed to work best, had to make two cuts since they seemed to twist around the high side constant mesh. Have since gone to a solid one from Hyper, still running an mcv for the ta and it is setup to turn the ipto gear. Had it apart twice so far and it comes right apart.
