my brother has a 300 that needs attention, and I was wondering what was possible for getting more power? Just for kicks what is the extreme high end? And what is practical without breaking the bank. Could a guy get a reliable 50+ horse engine for not much money? Thanks!

had a 300 utlty dinoed strong 60 hp we farmed with. 350 firecrater pistons and sleeves. little head work.

We rebuilt my father's 350 with stock bore with firecrater's, fresh valve job no porting,carb work,or governor work done, just stock farm tractor. We ran on dyno and she pulled down 45 HP and we were about 150 rpm lower than rated rpm, so yes it is possible for cheap $. Open the carb up an get it to run @ 2500 rpm and you should be close if not more than 50 hp easily.
