what head can i bolt onto an 88 block to enhance performance, 1650?? |

The 1650 head has smaller combustion chambers and bigger valves. it's a nice pickup compared to a stock 88, Super 88 or 880 head. The chamber tends to be a bit small if you are building a big cube engine and the head will not flow like a Super 99/Massey 1100/Waukesha 195 head will if you are turning RPM's or are 500 plus cubes. |

What about a diesal cross flow head of a 310 engine my flow 215cfm on the intake and 195 exhaust |

or use 1800 or 1850 gas head. if you are bolting to a 88 bkock, the 1800, 1850 gas head or 310 diesel head , you will need to make a few provisions. one row of head bolts line up perfect. the rest don't. redrill and tap these. on each end the bolt holes line up only partially. screw in redi rod, cut off flush, redrill and tap these holes. use 1800 or 310 head gasket. remember to install correct camshaft. 88 cam will not work with these other heads. been there done that. |
