466ci 3x3.5 turbo vs. 640ci 3x3

How would a 466ci tractor with a 3x 3.5 turbo compare to an NTPA super farm, 640ci 3 x3 turbo. |

ive seen a 466 beat a 640 that placed in the top five at tomah numerous times so i think they can do it. |

I've seen an Interstate 466 beat a good running sf. If you didn't know your tractors as most spectators don't you couldn't tell the difference. |

I have seen a green 466 and a red 466, both beat up on 640's, more than once. And the 466's had 3x3 turbos. 9300 lbs class |

What does a good running super farm have as far as horsepower and torque? Just trying to decide if it worth driving 6 hours to pull against them? Just built a new tractor and want to try in out. Thanks |

466 3x4
|
Would not be affraid to. A 466 on 3x3 will put out the same horse power that a 640 on 3x3 will, if tuned right it will just do it at a higher rpm. The 640 will have more torque than a 466. I have seen 466's with 4.1 run right with 640 4.1s and no one knows the difference. And if you tell them you are only 466 they will call you a liar. A 640 will only run as fast as the air flow. A 466 with that same air flow will run faster meaning you can run a lower gear and carry the same ground speed. and color makes no difference. If they let you run a 466 3x4 with a 640 3x3 I would do it. |

Hard to believe a 466 will spin a 4.1 unless its got a cooler on it |

that boi
|
we have a 466 with a 3x3 and we have pulled against super farms a couple times beating a few of them but usually get waxed by the top runners. |

Are you talking about Smokey running at Bedford? When he changed to a bigger turbo and then still ran an intercooler? Which actually made him illegal because he didn't fit into either the superfarm or the mod turbo rules. |

ANCIENT CHINESE SECRET

Take a 640 CI single turbo tractor and put it up against it's identical twin with 320 CI and multi-chargers and the 320 will plow the 640 under........hands down. |

Oh boy! I'd take a 640 with a good head and huge charger and you'd be laying under the furrow! You didn't specify charger size or fuel either. An alky with 640 cubes and a big windmill- goodnight Irene! |
Re: 466ci 3x3.5 turbo vs. 640ci 3x3

There is absolutely NO way a 466 can turn a 4.1 turbo. The most a 466 can turn is 3x4 with water. |

gpopper and LPS PULLER: I've seen a IH double charger 410 CI with a 4.1 for the big charger hand many a 640 w/a big windmill their axxes many a time. NEVER say NEVER.........and the 410 lived FOREVER. The weight class was 7500#. In a heavier class, the results might have been different. |

Go to jnr1066 Bedford on You Tube. See if you can spot the 466ci 3x4 vs the 540ci 4.1+ and the 640ci 3x3 tractors. |

Well I can say that I have done it!! Blew my 636 motor end of 10' season was going to take a year off but could not watched restlessly. put in a STOCK FORD 474, Stock Pistons cut for valves decompressed such a little tractor started like it was on the feed grinder Stock rods not even hardened Stock head with stock valves head flowed 230 CFM intake Stock head gasket and head bolts ground stock flat tappet cam. No griddle First year Precision Charger. I ran a same gear as before and I will tell you I had way more power and man did the rpm's scream. It ran very well but lack of dataloging equipment or even a pyrometer led to melting 4 pitons down on a run that was impressive
There is replacement for displacement its called RPM'S I will never go to large cube engine again Andy Keyes Blue Bye U Ford 8560 SuperFarm |

Let me say this again, at the pull in Bedford, Smokey was not running a 3x4 turbo. He had a larger turbo on and was still running an intercooler. Which means he was illegal to start with. It was pretty obvious the tractor ran a lot different than it does in the Light Limited class. I am curious what weight he was running anyway... |

So how big was it? |

By the numbers, a 466 3.6 x 3 columbus hx60 non slotted smooth bore turbo with water and a Hart billet compressor wheel will produce around 1150 hps and 2000 ft.lbs torque. A well tuned 4.1 640 smooth bore will crank out around 1750 hps and 3200 ft lbs torque, an average 4.1 640 will put out around 1650 hp and 2600 ft lbs torque. With all things being equal ie; tires (Puller 2000) weight,Gear selection there is no comparision between the two . If you have been watching the the 466 limitedpros and the 4.1 limited pros pull together the 4.1 tractors usually put between 20to 30 feet on the 466 tractors. I'm refering to Missouri and Illinois puls this last summer. |

To LPS I think you may have a couple numbers mixed up. I think the 1750hp and 2600lbs torque would be more realistic than 3200lbs torque. If 3200lbs is right, give me a call. |

The top running 4.1 640 tractors are absolutely running those torque numbers. But that doesn't mean that these tractors totally dominate in these classes. Loose tracks are great equalizers. |

Hard to say. He went the same distance in the Mod Turbo/Superfarm Class as he did in the Light Limited Class. But his brother who was 2 ft. behind him in the Light Limited was 20 ft behind in the Mod Turbo. And both had nice straight runs in both classes. Must be smokey's superior driving skills to some of the mod turbo/superfarm guys that have been running just as long or longer than him. |

466ci, 3x4turbo, intercooled, 8700lb, and yes he can drive! |

Yes, those are the rules for the light limited class but not what he was running at bedford in the mod turbo class |
