IF ALL FARMING WERE TO REGRESS TO YESTERYEAR; WHICH OF THE TRACTORS FROM THE 20'S THRU THE 40'S, STYLED AND UNSTYLED, WOULD YOU BE MOST LIKELY TO CHOOSE TO FARM WITH, AND WHY?? I PERSONALLY AM PARTIAL TO THE UNSTYLED TRACTORS. BRAND REALLY WOULDN'T MATTER TO ME. IT'S JUST THE NO FRILLS RUGGED LOOK OF THE UNSTYLED ONES THAT I PREFER. THE LA CASE WOULD BE ONE OF MY CHOICES BECAUSE OF THE CUBES. THE UNSTYLED JDG WOULD BE MY CHOICE BECAUSE OF LOOKS. |

If farming were to regress to 20's-40's I would not be farming! I would not be able to give up what I grew up with. From M to IH ..66 power, fuel price not to mention comfort/efficiancy of operator, changed dramatically (then now!). Dad and I were talking a while back that if a farmer were willing to give up all advances from 1900 he could have a sustainable farm today. (Not me!)
On the nostalgic side I wonder how the surrrrrvey picks would rate on the Neb. Hp/fuel ratings I saw in farm mag recently? |

Just as a note an LA case is a style tractor, you need an L Case if you want unstyled. i will take my Deere 820 over my LA case anyday for use in the field both in comfot and fuel economy. i still use my 820 for lots of farm chores as the fuel effeciency of it is on par or better than many of the tractors built today. I can do the same work with it as a 4020 but burn a gallon less of fuel an hour. |

FARMALLLLLLL MMMMMMMMMM. I'm ready, let's do it. No darn a/c to keep working, no computer issues. I wonder how much better the fuel consumption would be with some of the newer technology???? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/30/2011 04:03PM by farmall puller. |

So far.............looks as though Surrrrrrrrvey Says is leaning more towards the styled tractors, which makes sense beings a lot of the styled tractors had little creature comforts such as live power, live hydraulics, power steering and most important of all..............a padded seat. |

Don't forget about the Ridemaster seats on the Olivers. Those rubber torsion springs really smooth out the bumps. It's just too bad that most of the replacement ones you buy today are foreign-made and break after 6 months whereas some of the originals are still holding strong. |

the seat on the oliver was pretty nice. I raked hay for years with a 77 growing up. them old olivers just wont die, my neighbors farm with 6 or 7 of them yet |
