How many McKinnons pulled? January 11, 2012 01:40PM
Anyone know? What's the most you ever saw pull at the same event?

I'm not positive cause I was a young'un then, but I vaguely remember at the Indiana State Fair in about '75, there was a Jimmy who ran a D-21 in the 7SS (Joker?), Herb who ran a white and black D-21 in the heavy class, and they have have had a 7050 or D-21 in the heavy classes.

I believe the other one was Benny. I think one was called Pole Cat or the original Wopus Cat it's been a while

Jimmie, Don,Herb,Benne,Barney,and Sonny all pulled at one before and some of the kids may have pedal pulled also.

Sonny is still pulling. He brought out a classic modified last year and ran quite a few hooks with UPA in western Illinois. Had some mechanical issues, but he still can drive.

Benny, Herb, And Don Were the ones that always came to Bethany Mo, in the late 60's old faitfull, the Joker, and the Polcat.

Sorry this is over a year old thread, but to add to it....
Sonny Mckinnon still pulls in the 5200 and 5800 modified class... Antique V8's - he pulls an Oliver 88
Matt Mckinnon is building a 3010 for this class as well for 2013.

All of the Super Stock tractors that the Mckinnon's used to own are either gone or sold. Some of the grandson's, including myself, currently do demo derbies, with thoughts of moving on to the Antique V8 tractor's.

I first saw the McKinnons pull over 40 years ago...Some of the tractors I've seen them pull over the years are the following...

Barns- 1206 IH and AC 190XT
Donald- 180 AC,4020 JD,and D-21 AC (Donald also had a Puller with Agco sheet metal)
Herb- D-21 AC and 1466 IH
Bennie- D-21 AC and 7050 AC
Sonny- Several different Modifieds
Terry? Donalds son that pulled a Ford light SS in the 1990's-he may have pulled a 3020 JD in the late 60's?
Jimmy-???
Lucky Ed Miller--The BIL that pulled a D-21 AC


I know that weve seen several of the McKinnon pulling tractors pictured on here in the past but it would be fun if the McKinnon family or some of
their friends would put on some pictures..I've never seen a picture of Barns Redbone Coon Skinner 1206 or his AC 190 XT...What color tractors did they farm with?

Brothers; Barney (sons Merlyn and Ed), Herb (son Mike), Donald (sons Jim, Lannie, Terry, grandson Ronnie), Benny (sons Roger and Kevin) and Cousin Sonny McKinnon all were in tractor pulling at one time or another!

They had really good help with Noble Harrison and Allis Chalmers engineering for the AC,s in the day , wish it that way now!
