light jd axle housings January 13, 2012 04:21PM
I am thinking about putting the light 4010 axle housings on my 4430. Besides unbolting and bolting the 4010 axle housings on, what all needs to be done. How much weight will it save me and is it 10% faster? What is the part number that I need to look for and about what do they cost? Thanks

Not coming up with the answers to some of my questions off a search. Looks like it might be 13% instead of 10% faster, but the rest of the answers I can't find on a search. Any other help would be appreciated.

What do you need to know?

A part number would be a great start, I was also wondering about the increase in speed which looks like maybe 13%, any weight savings and how much they cost. Thank you for the reply.

I just bought a complete set of 4010 finals planing on chaning my 4430 also. I was told that i would have to do a small amount of grinding on the 4430 axle housing but other than that they should work as long as you have the complete set of 4010 final including brakes. You should be around 10% faster not sure how much lighter. hopes this helps u deere puller 2

you also have to lengthen the pockets were brake plate retainers set in, they are in a little different place on 4010. did a set last summer, not hard but time consuming.

the dial pins that hold the brake backer plates in the axle housing are located a little different. you have to move them i think about 5/8 in.just make notches in housing a little longer.you will see when you go to fit them up.
