Mike, I am going to say they have to be at least running a 19:1 final if not faster. I recall when I was working at J&L years ago when the class first went to the current rules, several of the customers (who were at the front of the class) were at 22:1. And from what I have seen of the class over the last couple of years I would have to say that 19 is a good place to start if you are starting a new build.

At 8000 rpm with a 19 gear you will be turning right at 80 mph wheel speed. Seems a little strong to me. Mid 20's sounds a little closer to me.
